Ampcontrol participated in Innovation Ready, an initiative developed by Out of the Square, produced in collaboration with the Hunter Innovation Festival and the Newcastle Herald to highlight the Hunter region, NSW as an innovation powerhouse.
We have some of the brightest minds in industry within Ampcontrol. With roots in the Hunter, we know we have the smarts needed to lead the global energy revolution. Ampcontrol has long been a champion of the Hunter being a renewable energy powerhouse—there is a wealth of innovation right at our doorstep.
Joining with Out of the Square as part of Innovation Ready, Ampcontrol Managing Director & CEO Rod Henderson was able to give a voice to the innovation within the region.
“Innovation for us is staying in front of the game. I think if we don’t innovate and stand still, we go backwards. It’s very important we continue to innovate, and particularly innovate in the energy transition space,” says Rod Henderson.
Our commitment to innovation can be seen in our partnership with Australia’s most advanced offshore wind developer, Star of the South, as part of the proposed Destiny Wind project off the Hunter coast. We have delivered the world’s first IECEx Group I certified Electric Vehicle, using an Intrinsically Safe traction battery. Ampcontrol is one of 30 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) partners supporting the Port of Newcastle Clean Energy Precinct.
“One of the pluses of being in the Hunter is the fact we have a great engineering school here,” says Rod.
“To have the support of the university for manufacturing and wanting to be engaged with industry as much as they do is an absolute bonus. The Hunter can be a global player in innovation as a whole.”
