Ampcontrol has recently been made aware of a condition that causes the ELD V3 and ELV V2 relays to power up into a tripped state. The trip is related to the internal charge of the super-capacitor. The issue may cause delayed power up of equipment as a reset will be required if a trip occurs.
The cause of this trip is not a safety concern nor will it pose any risks to operations experiencing this condition. The trip was detected during the commissioning stage where the equipment was undergoing repetitive power cycles.
The OMA Earth Fault Lockout/Loss of Vacuum Relay has been designed and tested to AS/NZS 2081.4:2002 to monitor a power outlet of a power distribution centre and/or Distribution Control Box (DCB). The OMA Relay has an Ex ia un-powered component approval and an [ib] system approval.

The Ampcontrol EFL-IS relay is IECEx Ex ia certified and is compliant to AS/NZS2081:2011 sections 7 & 9. It has been designed for installation on mining outlets supplying hazardous area equipment that require earth fault lockout and frozen contact protection.
The Ampcontrol EFL-IS Protection Relay provides earth fault lockout (EFLO) and frozen contact (FC) protection that is compliant to AS/NZS 2081:2011 sections 7 & 9. The Ampcontrol ELV is the next generation of earth leakage relays and provides wide bandwidth earth leakage protection (earth fault protection) as per AS/NZS 2081:2011. It has been designed for use on earth fault-limited systems, and particularly coal mining applications. The relay is also suitable for other applications where equipment or system-wide earth leakage protection is required.
Ampcontrol’s EFL, Earth Fault Lockout and Frozen Contactor Protection Relay, is compliant to AS/NZS2081:2011. The EFL is capable of being installed on a wide range of system voltages
from 110V up to 1.1kV (barrier dependent). In addition to EFLO and FC protection, the EFL also offers a selectable undervoltage protection function. The EFL is for use in non-hazardous areas only, for intrinsically safe applications, use the Ampcontrol EFL-IS Relay (174624) and EFL-IS Barrier (174623).
The 2011 revision of AS/NZS2081 correctly recognises that system protection must be assessed in keeping with touch potential curves in AS/NZS4871:2012, but acknowledges that this curve is for 50Hz (power frequency) only. AS/NZS2081 explicitly draws attention to the fact that 50Hz curve sets are not immediately applicable in systems that contain equipment capable of generating non-50Hz components.
