Rockstarter, Ampcontrol’s latest product for the hard rock mining sector, has completed its first production run today, with 16 units heading out the workshop door of our Cameron Park facility for two different customers in Broken Hill and Orange, NSW.
Two years in the making, Rockstarter is a direct result of our continued investment in research and development of products specifically for our customers across a range of different markets.
It has already been a busy year for the Rockstarter, which has been clocking up some serious frequent flyer points following product demonstrations at MEMMES in Dubbo, NT Resources Week, a customer roadshow in Mt Isa and IMME in India. A unit is now in our UK facility to kick off the European leg.
“It has been an exciting year for us with the official launch of Rockstarter to the market, so to see the first units head out the workshop door today is an amazing achievement and testament to the hardworking, collaborative and innovative team of people we have here at Ampcontrol,” said Global Product Manager, Scott Dallen.
Rockstarter is a new, fully integrated, multifunction, multi-voltage outlet starter that enables quick and seamless application changes, from powering a pump one day to a drill rig the next.

In keeping with our longstanding Ampcontrol tradition, this morning we welcomed our 2019 Apprentice and Graduate cohort at our annual morning tea event.
This year we have 11 Apprentices and five Engineering Graduates coming on-board to join our growing workforce and the 500 plus employees we have located within the Hunter Region alone.
Today the Apprentices and Graduates had the opportunity to hear from our CEO and Managing Director, Rod Henderson to learn more about Ampcontrol and what’s in store for them in their new roles.
“As a business, we’re deeply committed to providing meaningful career pathways and we’re so excited to welcome a new group of Apprentices and Graduates to the Ampcontrol family and to see how they will grow and progress,” said Rod.
Today’s event is a special way to cap off what has been a milestone year for the business, with the celebration of our 50th birthday, delivering a diverse range of customer projects and being recognised by our peers via a number of industry awards.

Throughout the month of November the Ampcontrol ‘Stash of the Titans Movember network raised a whopping $12,811 to help address health issues facing men including prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health and suicide.
Our community fundraisers pulled out all the stops including everything from raffles to bake sales, while growing mo’s or racking up the kilometres all to support men’s health during Movember.
At Ampcontrol we’re proud to encourage and support our team members who get involved in local community fundraising initiatives, this year we’ve supported the Mark Hughes Foundation, Camp Quality esCARpade and Movember just to name a few.

To top off a bumper year of award wins, Ampcontrol was recognised for Excellence in Work Health Safety, (sponsored by AGL), on 29 November at the 2018 Hunternet Chairman’s Awards.
The award recognises a company that demonstrates excellence in safety and training, whether it is through internal processes, involvement in training programs or offering training to the wider Hunternet membership base.
As our CEO and Managing Director, Rod Henderson accepted the award, the below message was read out to the audience to support our win.
