Description

Transformer overhaul can be performed onsite or at one of our workshops.

Services include:

• Replacing gaskets
• Controlled oven drying of windings
• Testing and filtering of oil in accordance with the relevant standards
• Tanks repaired, repainted, vacuum and pressure tested
• Fitting of additional protective devices, cable boxes and general modifications
• Transformer’s insulation resistance, winding resistance, ratio, DLA and polarity testing
• Cooling upgrade

Service is offered for distribution, power, rectifier, furnace, traction and mining transformer applications.

We also provide a comprehensive transformer oil analysis and testing service which removes and treats suspended solids, dissolved water, dissolved air and organic gases.

The transformer capacity range serviced by Ampcontrol is from 415V to 132kV and from 200kVA up to 50 MVA.

The transformer workshop includes the following major plant and equipment:

• Oil storage, handling and filtering facilities for 140,000 litres
• Coil winding to 2M dia X 2.5M long
• 80 tonne lifting capacity
• Vacuum drying facility
• Two large capacity drying ovens to 220ºC
• 4,000 litres/hr oil filter unit
• ‘Georg’ core cutting line

Testing Capabilities include the following:

• 11kV mains connected test supply
• Power frequency testing to 350kV
• High frequency generators for induced over voltage
• Impulse testing

We also sell and hire new and second hand transformers and offer both on site field service and workshop service for this equipment.
