Harmonic Analysis

Field engineers carry out measurement and analysis of power quality problems including harmonics, sags, surges and transients, which may cause incorrect operation or failure of equipment.

Using advanced three phase power meter technology, Ampcontrol are able to provide simultaneous analysis of energy and demand to enable the engineer to identify the source of problems and recommend the best solution.

Harmonic surveys provide information for the design of power factor correction equipment as well as documenting the level of waveform distortion before and after connection of major plant and equipment that could cause additional distortion.

The types of problems which can be rectified by harmonic analysis include:

• Failure of capacitor banks
• Nuisance tripping of protection devices
• Incorrect operation of thyristor controls
• Communication interference
• Incorrect operation of electronic process controls

Energy Analysis

To complement the simulation of power system performance, we also have the capability to measure power and energy flows through your system over a typical load cycle. With this service we can measure actual loading levels of items of plant, as well as voltage levels in the system, and precisely identify power factor correction requirements.
