Ampcontrol offer a range of Earth Continuity relays for Metalliferrous Mining. These include:
ECM Earth Continuity Relay
The ECM Earth Continuity Relay has been designed to monitor the pilot earth continuity of trailing and reeling cables on an earth fault limited system where there is not a requirement to comply with AS2081.
The ECM Relay has selectable trip levels at 15, 25, 35 and 45 ohms with a time delay on pickup and drop out provided.
The Relay is powered from a 19-70VAC 50/60Hz, 19-90VDC or 70-140VAC 50/60Hz, 90-190VDC supply.
ECM-R Earth Continuity Relay
The ECM-R Earth Continuity Relay has been designed to monitor the pilot earth continuity of trailing and reeling cables on an earth fault limited system where there is not a requirement to comply with AS2081. The relay picks up if loop resistance is less than 39 ohms and drops out if the resistance exceeds 45 ohms. Shunt resistance between the pilot and earth phase conductors has to be greater than 500 ohms. A time delay on pickup and drop out is also provided.
The relay is powered from a 19-70VAC 50/60Hz, 19-90VDC or 70-140VAC 50/60Hz, 90-190VDC supply. The relay is suitable for remote operation and when ‘remote’ has been selected, a remote stop/start station is used to operate the relay.
ECM2 - Earth Continuity Relay
The ECM2 Protection Relay has been developed in response to market demand to replace the discontinued TriTronics Relay. The ECM2 Earth Continuity Relay has been designed to monitor the earth continuity of trailing and reeling cables supplying power to mobile machines, via mining trailing or reeling cables where there is not a requirement to comply with AS2081.
The Relay can be used in Open Cut Coal Mines and Metalliferous Mines and is usually installed in a substation or a distribution control box to provide earth continuity protection.
The ECM2 features electronic microprocessor design, capability for DIN rail or foot mount, external reset, AC or DC supply operation and LED indication to aid in fault finding.
The Relay can be used where there is non symmetrical trailing cables as opposed to other standard relays on the market. It is also able to uniquely withstand high interference. There is a field termination unit available for the ECM2 Relay. A continuity trip occurs when either the series resistance increases by more than 100 ohms or when shunt resistance falls below 1,000 ohms.
