Burn Brite’s range of longwall mine equipment has been extended with this new Australian designed and manufactured intrinsically safe power supply. Featuring fully isolated output and wide operating voltage the unit is fully encapsulated. Compact and lightweight construction allows use in existing enclosures.
Employing switch-mode power conversion and active IS protection, the power supply is EMI compliant and power factor corrected.
The output current can be factory set to any value between 1.0 and 2.5 Amps.
Intrinsically Safe Power Supply with Electronic Protection
The Burn Brite intrinsically safe low voltage power supply is designed for use in underground coal mines, in conjunction with other certified equipment and/or as a replacement for other IS power supply units currently installed in mines.
The intrinsically safe low voltage power supply employs active protection with multiple and independent protection circuits. These ensure that the connected load does not receive power if any internal or external fault condition exists which would cause excess current to flow or voltage to be present. The circuit employs input varistor and EMI filter, flyback power converter, duplicated shunt crowbar protection, duplicated series overcurrent protection, duplicated shunt overvoltage protection operating on independent converter shutdown circuits. If all fault conditions are removed, the power is restored.
The unit is encapsulated to permit use in approved IP65 (minimum) enclosures. It may also be used in an Ex d enclosure without modification.
