Ampcontrol purchased the Allenwest Wallacetown business in Scotland, its third international location.

The acquisition of Allenwest Wallacetown allowed Ampcontrol to further expand its presence into international markets. It was a leading designer and manufacturer of flameproof and explosion protected equipment for use in coal mining, oil and gas and other hazardous area industries. The company employed 90 people and had subsidiaries in China, Russia and South Africa.

The acquisition positioned Ampcontrol as the leading supplier of Hazardous Area Equipment to the international coal mining market. It also moved Ampcontrol into the core business, Energy. With investments in power quality products, green technology and power distribution, the company is at the forefront of providing the world with safe and environmentally friendly power.
