Ampcontrol NZ Pty Ltd (trading as Ampcontrol Metalect) was created with the purchase of New Zealand company Metalect Industries.

Ampcontrol had been at the forefront of High Voltage Power Factor Correction for many years. This acquisition allowed Ampcontrol to offer customers low voltage power factor correction solutions. It expanded Ampcontrol’s capacity to deliver customers a total package of environmentally friendly, energy saving, Power Quality solutions. The New Zealand manufacturing facility became part of the Electronics Division.
