Cable Business Established

Cable Services Australia was established to offer further complimentary products and services to Ampcontrol’s existing customers. It operated from the Mining Systems workshop at Tomago. Since then, the business has continued to expand and diversify. In December 2000 Macey’s Cable Repairs was purchased and operated as a division of Cable Services Australia. In February 2003 a 75% shareholding in Queensland based Cable Management Australia expanded Ampcontrol’s diverse range of services available to the mining industry. The remaining 25% was purchased in 2006.

In December 2005, two more cable service companies were purchased – Illawarra Cable Service and Lithgow Cable Repairs. The 2005 acquisitions made Ampcontrol the biggest provider of cable services on the NSW coast, enabling the provision of cable services to all major mining regions in the eastern states of Australia. Today Ampcontrol’s cable companies make up 50% of all NSW cable service companies licensed by the Department of Primary Industry for the repair of flexible reeling, feeder and trailing cables for use in hazardous zones.
