In another example of Raelec innovation, 33kV switchgear, 7.5 MVA transformers and a 6.9kV switchroom were mounted on one common skid base with integrated safety protection fencing. The skid mounted design provided the client, Costain, with reduced relocation time, from several days down to several hours. This innovation was widely embraced by the industry, becoming a standard for open cut mining sites.
